MITgcm Preprocessing

Preprocessing phase of the AquaINFRA marine modeling chain. Initial conditions, boundary conditions and atmospheric forcing files are generated from Copernicus data to be used as input to the MITgcm model in the Model Run phase.

Inputs
Id Title Data Type Description
input_url_IC_OBS Zipped Copernicus Input Data (URL) input_url_IC_OBS string URL that points to (zipped) Copernicus data necessary to generate initial and boundary conditions for the model. Optional: If none of the input URLs are provided, pre-downloaded data will be used.
input_url_AF Copernicus Input Data (URL) input_url_AF string URL that points to Copernicus input data that the preprocessing needs. Note that the filename has to match the pattern 'era5_{RUN_DATE}_{RUN_DATE+PREDICTION_DAYS}.zip', otherwise the preprocessing will fail. Optional: If none of the input URLs are provided, pre-downloaded data will be used.
PREDICTION_DAYS PREDICTION_DAYS integer Number of days to run the simulation from RUN_DATE. Format: Positive integer
RUN_DATE RUN_DATE string DATE from which the simulation starts. Format: yyyy-mm-dd
Outputs

output_directory Directory containing all the outputs This is the link to the directory containing all the outputs of this job.
preprocessing_output_files Preprocessing output files (model input) directory This is the link to the directory containing preprocessing output files (= model input files).
preprocessing_input_files Preprocessing input files directory Directory containing input data: The Copernicus data which was be preprocessed to generate the necessary model input.
configure_inc Modified configure.inc The modified configure.inc file, containing all the parameter values for the simulation, where the user can select a DATE and the number of PREDICTION_DAYS.
bathymetry Bathymetry file Bathymetry file: bathy_interCATSEA_lowres.nc
depths Depths file Depths file: depths.dat
river_discharges River discharges file River discharges CSV file: river_discharges_M3000L015.csv
log_file Log file Preprocessing run log file
model_run_dir Model RUN directory This is the link to the directory containing: MITgcm namelists adjusted for the specific simulation, MITgcm executable, MITgcm raw output, MITgcm log files (STDERR, STDOUT)
job_id Job id Job id to use to refer to the preprocessing outputs.
